Jonathan Mack is a professor of history at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is the author of several books on early modern European history, including The Habsburg Monarchy: An Overview, 1519–1780 and The Holy Roman Empire: A Historical Encyclopedia.

Peter H. Wilson is a professor of history at the University of Cambridge. He is the author of several books on early modern European history, including The Thirty Years' War: Europe's Tragedy and The Holy Roman Empire: A Thousand Years of Europe's History.
