McGeorge Bundy

McGeorge Bundy was born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1919. He graduated from Yale University and Harvard Law School. After serving in the Navy during World War II, he worked as a law clerk for Supreme Court Justice Felix Frankfurter.

In 1953, Bundy joined the faculty of Harvard University, where he taught law and international relations. He also served as Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences from 1958 to 1960.

In 1961, President Kennedy appointed Bundy as National Security Advisor. Bundy played a key role in the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War. He was a strong advocate for containment of communism and for the use of military force to prevent the spread of Soviet influence.

Bundy resigned as National Security Advisor in 1966. He went on to serve as President of the Ford Foundation from 1966 to 1979.

Bundy died in 1996.

William Bundy

William Bundy was born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1917. He graduated from Yale University and Harvard Law School. After serving in the Army during World War II, he worked as a lawyer in the State Department.

In 1961, Bundy was appointed Deputy National Security Advisor to his brother, McGeorge Bundy. He played a key role in the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War. He was a strong advocate for containment of communism and for the use of military force to prevent the spread of Soviet influence.

Bundy resigned as Deputy National Security Advisor in 1969. He went on to serve as Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs from 1969 to 1973.

Bundy died in 2000.
