In 1953, Bundy joined the faculty of Harvard University, where he taught law and international relations. He also served as Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences from 1958 to 1960.

In 1961, President Kennedy appointed Bundy as National Security Advisor. Bundy played a key role in the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War. He was a strong advocate for containment of communism and for the use of military force to prevent the spread of Soviet influence.

Bundy resigned as National Security Advisor in 1966. He went on to serve as President of the Ford Foundation from 1966 to 1979.

Bundy died in 1996.

Legacy

McGeorge Bundy and William Bundy were two of the most influential American foreign policy makers of the Cold War era. They played a key role in shaping American policy towards the Soviet Union, China, and Vietnam.

Bundy's legacy is complex. He was a brilliant strategist who helped to keep the Cold War from escalating into a nuclear war. However, he was also a strong advocate for the use of military force, and his policies in Vietnam led to the deaths of thousands of Americans and Vietnamese.

William Bundy's legacy is also complex. He was a skilled diplomat who helped to negotiate the end of the Vietnam War. However, he was also a strong advocate for containment of communism, and his policies contributed to the Cold War's long and bloody history.

The Bundy brothers were complex and controversial figures. However, there is no doubt that they played a major role in shaping American foreign policy during one of the most challenging periods in American history.
