Feldman was born in London in 1934. He began his career as a stand-up comedian in the early 1960s. He first came to prominence in 1967 when he joined the cast of Monty Python's Flying Circus. Feldman quickly became one of the show's most popular characters, thanks to his unique brand of surreal humor.

After Monty Python ended in 1974, Feldman went on to star in a number of films, including Young Frankenstein (1974),Silent Movie (1976),and The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother (1975). He also continued to work in television, appearing in such shows as The Marty Feldman Comedy Machine (1978-1980) and The Young Ones (1982-1984).

Feldman died in Mexico City in 1982 at the age of 48. He was suffering from a heart attack at the time.

Marty Feldman was married twice. His first marriage, to Lauri Lupton-Smith, ended in divorce in 1969. He then married Anne Robertson in 1970. The couple had two children, a son and a daughter.

Feldman was a heavy smoker and drinker. He also suffered from depression. In 1982, he died of a heart attack at the age of 48.
